Making Craters

These operations were carried out on the PC Windows version of Bryce 3D Rev 3.1



Create a Terrain.
Click on the E button to enter the Terrain Editor.

 

Drag the red spot of the brush colour down to black. Drag the hardness all the way to the right for a very soft brush. Enlarge the brush to the size you want for the inside of your crater. See image at left.

 

Without moving the mouse keep clicking with the left button until the inside of your crater is more or less flat black in colour.

Using the same brush click around the rim of the crater to lower any high peaks.

Exit the Terrain Editor and render.

An interesting variation is to cut away part of the crater edge with a smaller brush to produce a secondary impact. An example of this can be seen below.
